Waubra Waffle, week ending September 13th

With wins in the first round of finals, the senior and reserve footballers and A and B netballers were able to relax last weekend and watch their competitors fight to stay in the finals contest.

The U17 netballers had no such luxury, coming up against Learmonth. It was going to be a tough match, as when the sides met during the season, the match ended in a draw. Learmonth was in front for most of the game, but the determination of the Waubra girls enabled them to slowly catch up and when the game ended, the scores were even. In time on, Waubra made the most of this opportunity and got up by 5 goals in the first 5 minutes. The girls were able to hold onto the lead in the second 5 minutes to win the game. A great effort and a great game to watch!

In the C grade, the girls got off to a fantastic start, scoring 7 goals before Buninyong was able to score. This was the start the girls needed, which was lacking in their loss the week prior. It was a great team effort and the girls were able to hold and build on their lead for the rest of the game.

Good Luck to all the Waubra teams who are playing this weekend, there will be plenty of support around to get you over the line.

The Senior Football/Netball Presentation Night (including U17 football and netball) is on Friday 20th September. There will be a bus leaving the Western Hotel at 6:30, for the presentation to start at 7:00pm. The cost is $25 and includes a 2 course meal. All player, families and supports of the club are welcome to come.
