Waubra Waffle, week ending 30th June

Welcome to all past and present Waubra people to our ‘Waubra Past Players and Supporters Day,’ it is sure to be a very big day for the club. Our Club has a long and proud history and we would like to recognise all the generous support and work our Past Players, Supporters and Club Members have put into the Waubra Football Netball Club!!

This week we also want to say a big thank you all our sponsors, who give the Club great support. We value all you do for the Club and hope you enjoy your day at the game today.

This week we welcome Springbank to the Waubra Community Hub, who are great opponents and the day is sure to be full of great netball and football matches in all grades. Results throughout the year suggest that there will be some excellent matches played.

Last week we saw some terrific matches of football and netball played against Creswick. Thank you to the Creswick Football/Netball Club for your help and support with our junior teams. In the senior game our guys faced a very determined and well drilled Creswick team who really pushed us and made us work very hard, not giving us an inch all day.

Just some notice for the upcoming game against Bungaree, the match has been moved from the Saturday to Sunday 28th, sorry for any inconvenience.

Congratulations to Dean Kelly “Milky” who has been selected as a member of the VCFL Division 2 team to play in the Australian Country Football Carnival on the 6th July. You have been a great addition to our Club this year, good luck for the match.

I want to make special mention to our fabulous gate people Krusty and Phyllis. The gate job is not always the most sought after position, however you both have a way of making it very enjoyable. Players and supporters look forward to Krusty’s ‘cryptic clues’ each Friday night and more importantly his outfit the next day!!

A reminder that the Annual Waubra Ball is on the 20th July at the Ballarat Mechanics Institute from 7pm. Tickets are $50 and include a two course meal and live entertainment from local Band.

Tea will be available after tonight from the Forge Pizzeria. Adam Beattie and his brother will provide acoustic entertainment, the bus will leave the Western at 6:30pm and return to Ballarat after the function.
