Waubra Waffle, week ending 18th August

This week we welcome the Daylesford Football Netball Club to our last home and away game for the season. Over the past 8 years we have had some terrific matches and have developed a good rivalry with Daylesford, today’s game is expected to be another great spectacle.

On behalf of the club I want to thank all of our volunteers for the fabulous work that they have put into the year thus far. Whether it be Krusty and Phyllis working the gate, Kerry and Gus doing the time keeping or the ladies in the canteen and everyone else that helps, you all do a fantastic job. Without your generous support the club cannot function so I thank each and every volunteer sincerely.

Last Sunday our under 12’s boys participated in the junior Lightning Premiership at Creswick. Although they did not win any games, its fair to say that the way that they played and conducted themselves on the day was nothing short of sensational. Congratulations to Robbie Gordon and Tige and Caryn Severino on a terrific season and a great way to finish the season. You have built a strong platform to build on next year!!

Last week we ventured to Dunnstown which saw the club come away with some good wins in both netball and football. In the netball our A grade and Under 15 teams came up against a very strong opposition, going down by small margins. The B, C and Under 17 grades all recorded strong wins. A big congratulations to the Under 13 girls who got up for their first win of the season, shooting an impressiave 19 goals! Many of the girls were very new to netball at the start of the season and have worked really hard to develop their skills, influenced by the enthuiasm of their coach Jackie. We will have 4, but possibly 5 netball teams in the finals, which is a fantastic result. Well done girls and good luck for the rest of the season.

In the football results our under 12s, 14.5 and 17.5 all came up against very strong Dunnstown teams, who will all play finals. We tried hard, but fell short. The Seniors and Reserves footballers recorded strong wins.

Tea will be available after today’s game from 5:30pm so let’s try and stick around.

GO ROOS!!
